fresh herbs
Today I tried something I've always wanted to do - cook with fresh herbs. I made spaghetti and instead of dried herbs I used fresh basil and oregano and it was out of this world good. It also successfully covered the taste of the spinach I added. I'm a regular rachel ray. Now I need a girlfriend so I can cook for her.
Since I don't have a decent chef's knife or a cutting board (things that I really want to get now that I'm watching the food network), I cut the herbs with what's known in the telecom industry as snips, which are basically very strong scissors which they use to cut through wire. Wanna know something gross? I've used them to cut wire before. And I think I tried to use them once to cut up some old moldy carpet. And god knows what else. Don't worry I've washed them sometime in the past.
